The Real Housewives of Taylor County: Off Camera
You may have seen the Housewives of Atlanta, New York, and Orange County, but have you seen them in Taylor County?
I hung out with some of the most stylish southern belles to see how they spend their time here in the Big Country.
Tonya Doby, Darla Cooper, and Donna Sewalt are three best friends that are all about spending quality girl time and a little bit of money here and there. What girl doesn't?
While the show on Bravo makes the Housewives out to be a backstabbing bunch that live vicariously through the drama they stir; the Housewives of Taylor County are some of the most friendly and fun woman around.
Instead of trying to outdo one another, these ladies are all about doing things for each other.
They enjoy hosting parties and even throwing each other surprise bashes.
Donna recently had a birthday, and sure enough Tonya and Darla were busy planning and plotting an extravagant event held at the Country Club. The girls usually share everything with each other, but this surprise party luckily didn't slip through the cracks and made for a fabulous fiesta for Donna.
The girls rarely go a day without speaking to each other. I was told that Monday's are usually their "spend time at home with husband's day". But, you can bet that these girls are gabbing on the phone planning their fun for the week ahead, even on a Monday.
Tuesdays are generally, "let's go to lunch days" where they dine out at some of the finest restaurants here in the Big Country. Copper Creek is a favorite of theirs, where they love to enjoy a glass of wine over their meals.
Wednesdays and Thursdays are somewhat interchangeable. These days are spent getting massages, manicures, and pedicures; all of which are just so much more fun doing together.
While these three may seem like the three musketeers; their social circle is much larger. They've got other girlfriends all over the Big Country.
As for their husbands, they're a bunch of buds too. They enjoy their guy-time just as much, on the golf course and grilling out by the pool.
The three Housewives I've highlight vacation together and even spend the holidays together.
It was a lot of fun hanging out with these glamorous gals. They were very kind to not only let me see how they spend their days and nights but you as well.
I cannot believe that these poor, pathetic women are being held up as example of Taylor county. One of them stated that she didn't feel good about herself unless she had a "pedi". That is so sad. Feeling good about yourself doesn't come form your outside but from what is on your inside. So many beautiful women here in Abilene, and you had to stoplight these empty women. Instead of spending their time and money on spoiled pooches and shopping, they should involve themselves in helping community activities. Brittany, you are a beautiful intelligent woman. How can you promote such ridiculous fluff? Is your employee punishing you?
ReplyDeleteWhat a joke. I can not believe these women. People are losing their jobs, homes etc....They are boasting about their shallow lives.
ReplyDeleteI believe that mary B you have seemed to miss the boat. If you noticed that the name of this episode is Real Housewives of Taylor county. I can tell that what this was about. Since we have other series of orange county, atlanta county and new york county, why not compare our women with them. What they were saying is that we southern housewives are not back stabbers, gold diggers. We southern women have honest friendships and yes they probably do pamper some but nothing like the other counties. Not even close. We southern housewives are down to earth. We really don't need to be judging them. Do we really know them enough to do that? NO This is all about ratings, so they will only cut out and show what they want. We do not know if these women helps with the community in some way or not? Yes one did state they feel good about pedi's but they also state that they do good things for each other too. Not just for themselves. So they are not to shallow. Brittany, good job.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 10:30--I am guessing these ladies are your friends. They may be good people, but the story indicated that they are shallow. Just like the "Real Housewives" series I am sad this was chosen to be representative of my Taylor County! Brittany--I think there is more news out there than this. I am sorry you chose/or were given this assignment.
ReplyDeleteHey life is about the pusuit of happiness. Looks like these ladies and guys have found it. I am happy for them, but if I know my town, there will be about 98,000 people who won't be. Come on Abilene, it's OK for other people to have good things happen to them. The more you celebrate the success of others the more success you will have. Negativity is a disease built on insecurity. Life is tough, be happy for all of the good things that come our way and equally happy for the good things that happen to all of our fellow neighbors.
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't watched the "Real Housewives" on Bravo you may not know that the title is tongue-in-cheek. Most "real" housewives don't live like that at all, obviously.
ReplyDeleteIt's just a lighthearted glimpse into a life that we will probably never experience, or wouldn't choose to.
Brittany, you do good, hard reporting every day and I can tell you had fun doing a story that's out of the box. You also did a good job not raking these ladies over the coals like Bravo does.
Even if these ladies are wonderful, giving, caring people, the story comes at a time when there are alot of other people who are falling on hard times. They seem more than happy to portray a materialistic, shallow image. They are not only living it but flaunting it, and I realize that they were approached to do this, but I feel like the story is bad timing and their agreeing to do the story says something about them. If they are indeed involved in helping the community, then why not highlight that too? All we are seeing are 125 pairs of shoes and counting, when some of Abilene's kids don't even have one pair. We all realize that there are different classes of people, and there is certainly nothing wrong with doing well for yourselves and splurging, living the high life, etc. But to exploit it when so many others aren't thriving is just a bit insensitive. And who knows...maybe they want us to THINK they are doing that well. In reality, are they really???
ReplyDeleteI am the Mother of one of these girls. And you are exactly right. This was bad timing. They were called and asked to do this series way before Abilene started falling. She has done nothing but work her whole life since young age. She would give her shirt off her back. She would bring lost dogs home all the time. She has a good heart. If you only new her. You would love her too as so many do. And by the she does help in the community alot.
ReplyDeleteit wouldn't matter how you presented these women, someone would complain, that is what people do. i thought the piece was entertaining and the women were hilarious. jealousy happens all the time certainly in these "tough economic times." please find something else to complain, which i know you will, instead of picking on women who have it good, kind of pathetic.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more with the last comment. I actually smiled when I watched the news and saw these ladies. I feel the news is always filled with depressing events going on and to see "The Housewives of Taylor County" made me smile. Makes me feel good to know that we have women in this town that have a lot of money and they are sweet and down to earth not stuck up or mean like all the other "Housewives in New York and Orange County". Anyone that has anything negative to say is obviously jealous and should be glad that the "higher class" women in your county are sweet and happy! Thank goodness they buy all those shoes and get their nails done or there would be more people without jobs. Thank you for showing this clip and I hope to see more because its nice to see fresh and happy faces on the news then just the depressing facts.
ReplyDeleteI find the whole thing incredibly obnoxious. It's an example of how the wealthy really do control the media and the town. Instead of highlighting a non-profit organization, agency, or worker, this station just "happened" to choose three of the wealthiest families to interview. Interesting. And it's not about jealousy. It's about being sick and tired of other people's wealth and materialism being thrown in our faces on a constant basis. You want real news? How about the global food crisis going on right now? How about 300,000,000 children going to bed starving each night? Families having to decide which child gets to eat? Show that...and then let these "real" housewives put their "hard earned" money to good use.
ReplyDeleteAmen Sister
ReplyDeleteI often have people ask me why we don't do more "good news" or "important news" and it makes me wonder, are they not paying attention? We do those kinds of stories all the time.
ReplyDeleteEvery week, Maria Oliver profiles a teacher in her Elite Educator series.

Every week Kyna Grigsby profiles a child looking for a Big Brother/Big Sister.

Every day the pastor of First Baptist gives "First Words" on the news.

Brittany does a lot of digging at city council and other city/county agencies so taxpayers know what their elected officials are up to.
Stephanie Harris keeps busy with her Focus on Faith series.
Of course, a story with Fergie music is going to attract a lot more attention, but please don't think that we're not doing everything we can to keep you connected with every aspect of our community.
My gosh it was five minutes aired on T.V. of fun upbeat news on "housewives of Taylor County" Get over it and enjoy the little clip between the awful stories that are in the "real news" Just like everyone else in this world it breaks my heart to hear about 300,000,000 children starving and I wish I could adopt all of them but I can't. It's refreshing to see a little happiness in our county through the nice housewives we have instead of the drama filled housewives that are on Bravo!
ReplyDeleteIt is silly for anyone to not understand that this whole piece "tongue in cheek" and to think otherwise you a very mistaken and mislead in your ideologies. KRBC does plenty of things over organizations, agencies, etc, but those stories seem to be overlooked the complainers just remember bad things, not good.
ReplyDeleteIf we are going to make generalities about these fine women then I will do it to the same people who complain about entertaining features like this on television.
The people who complain about these types of things also complain about everything in their life, and why not everything is handed to them on a silver platter. They are the same people who complain about the food at a restaurant, waiting too long in a grocery line and are probably the same people who cut in front of you at the gas pump.
I actually appreciate people who have made something of their life, enjoy it and have good friends to hang out with along the way. Maybe the complainers should take note and learn something from these women, you might not complain so much down the road.
i understand that you were trying to make a warm and fuzzy story, but with so many people losing their jobs and struggling ,this story seems abit off course. i need help trying to make ends meet and take care of my children. i truly don't need to see a bunch of out of touch with reality women and their "daily lives."come spend a day with me and other struggling mothers!
ReplyDeleteI went to high school with one of these ladies daughters about ten years ago and assumed she thought she was too good until I finally met her. Her and her sisters are great people and you cannot judge a book by its cover. The lady that said a pedi makes her feel good. Who doesn't feel good when they have a pedi? I wish I could get one everyday. Maybe if I can continue to work hard I can be where these ladies are at their age even during hard economic times. One of the ladies said their nest are empty so they are able to do things for each other that probably when they had a house full of kids they weren't able to. I know my mom is able to do more things now that my brother and I are out of the house, so this should give you hope that when your children are grown you can have this to look forward to. GREAT WORK Brittany, I enjoyed the story.
ReplyDeleteI am a news channel "surfer" and one of the other stations ran an a piece that indicated one out of twenty children don't know where their next meal will come from, then I switch over to your channel and one of these ladies states she feels dirty without her "mani and pedi". Come on ladies you should know that class is not about what you have it's about what you do with what you have. Just a thought maybe instead of getting your toes and nails done go give some of your time or money to the many charities that are in despate need right now after all we are in a recession!
ReplyDeleteKRBC....you are pathetic. All of the women who participated in this story...pathetic. And Darla...what a joke! I bet her little shallow friends wouldn't consider her part of their vein group when just a few years ago she was...gasp!!...only an office manager of an apartment complex! HA!
ReplyDeleteAnd no, I'm not jealous. I too am a very wealthy, independent woman who has earned my wealth and not have to mooch off of my husband. I would NEVER go on the news and announce that I have 125 pairs of shoes! Oh my ladies! Everyone who participated in this story not only insulted people who are struggling to make ends meet, you also cast a horrible shadow on the wealthy, sane, generous people in our community that don't feel the need to flaunt it.
I understand not wanting to have sad stories all the time but there are many other "entertaining" stories from our community that could have been done. How about the new coffee shop in town that donates 25% of their profits to an orphanage in Brazil? That's uplifting and entertaining. How about the volunteers that work for the hospitals here in Abilene and other organizations here?
Shame on all of you! You make me sick!!!!
Ha! These women are idiots! How can you come on TV and act like that when people are struggling right now?? Shame shame! And shame on KRBC for airing this as..."entertainment"! Blows my mind!
ReplyDeleteI'm willing to bet all of these posts siding with these women are the women themselves. I can't imagine anyone actually thinking this was okay to air except these small minded women. Sad.
ReplyDeleteHEY! HEY! I counted my pairs of shoes last night!!!....135!! I'm news worthy!
ReplyDeleteIt's entertainment because it's comparing the high society ladies in our county compared to the ones on the original T.V. show. I get it KRBC I see that you are trying to show that our ladies are not anything like those ladies. Though they enjoy getting their hair done and shopping they do not have the cattiness that the other women in the world do. No matter how our economy is you're going to have those haters that are going to complain no matter what. If woman complained this much about things that actually mattered then maybe our economy wouldn't have ever gotten as bad as it is. Go complain about something that matters then this little clip that compares women in Abilene to women in New York, Orange County, and Atlanta. Would you rather women in Abilene be like those on Bravo?
ReplyDeleteThe clip was 5 minutes...you give these shallow women here in Taylor Co. a series...and the knives will come out. They didn't fool anyone.
ReplyDeleteIt was entertaining enough to make me get on my computer and look it up again. I'm a little shocked that the woman would want to do this, but it was funny and I enjoyed a little laughter during the news. You ladies are brave and for that I respect you.
ReplyDeleteFirst off everyone on here who took this the wrong way needs to grow up and realize being jealous and judgemental is just as bad as being shallow...I know each of these ladies extremely well and one of them being my stepmom...each one of them has made me a better person. The show was not about flaunting money around I know first hand that our family has our problems too... who isn't having financial issues right now? How can you talk bad about someone for being the manager of a apartment complex?...that is more than most of yall can say... and who wouldn't want 125 pairs of shoes? You all talk about them being shallow when you all are the ones judgeing them off a 5 min clip on tv. Work on your own faults instead of trying to point out everyone elses. I love them all and wish there was a series it would be funny :).
ReplyDeleteWow some of you people in Abilene are pathetic and need to move on about this story. It was just for some entertainment and not to offend anyone. I am the son of Tonya and I know for a fact that my parents give their fair share back to the Abilene communtiy, probably even more than their share. It is very sad and selfish of the people leaving negative comments to judge people they do not even know. I love my mother more than anything in the world and she was there for me everytime i needed her, so if anyone wants to say that my mother isnt a real housewife i have news for you. So for everyone who is leaving negative comments GROW UP YOUR NOT IN HIGH SCHOOL ANYMORE!!!!
ReplyDeleteJEALOUS is what yall are..girls will always talk crap about another girl who has something they dont...darla tonya and donna are all respectible woman and dont deserve that they were doing something for entertainment not for anyone to get mad and the funny thing is it could of been a show about anothing and they would of fit the part..they are fun outgoing woman who like to live life to the fullest..they have there fair share of problems too and they help out in the comminity all the time so screw yall :] the tv clip also didnt show the part where they mentioned all the community serivice they do..nor did it say they were rude stuck up bitches like yall are making them out to sound
ReplyDeleteI am amused, sympathetic, and bewildered by the range of comments and emails this feature story has generated.
ReplyDeleteAs the videographer who shot the story, I worked alongside Brittany and the "Housewives." It's rare in our business that we get to tell truly fun, entertaining stories. I guess the concept of the story went over a lot of people's heads...there was no intention, ever, of making light of the real economic struggles that many in our country face every day.
Almost 10% of our stations' full-time, professional-level employees were recently laid off. Just about all of them are parents, and all of them are longtime members of our work "family" and will be sorely missed. Those of us in t.v. certainly are not immune to the effects of the economy. This light-hearted feature was intended to be just that...a light-hearted feature.
We actually shot the story on five separate days; the one-hour shoots were interspersed among our regular news-gathering duties. One day I showed up smelling like smoke after covering a grass fire that threatened several homes....another evening I was late to the shoot because I was covering a rollover accident that sent 3 people to the hospital with severe injuries. Among the death and destruction we cover just about every day, surely it's ok to have a bit of fun once in a while.
And remember, KRBC has been giving back to the Abilene community for over 55 years. We air WEEKLY community-service stories, such the Elite Educator and Kyna's Kids series mentioned above.
The annual Share Your Christmas food drive helps put almost ONE MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD directly into the mouths of hungry children, right here in West Central Texas! We helped raise over $8,000 last month for area volunteer fire departments who have been overwhelmed due to the drought. Many of our employees, including myself, donate a percentage of our salaries to the United Way, again, to help those in need.
I'm glad this story has created such interest, but remember, it is what it is...and what it is, is a light-hearted feature story!
Give them a series and then all the proceeds can go to a charity! Then how can anyone have anything bad to say? I'm sure other jealous women will because that's what they do! Great clip and I wish I could hang out with them, they seem fun and down to earth and know how to have a good time!
ReplyDeletewow after reading all the comments this is amazing that we have people in this town that throw a hissy fit over a fun story krbc called them and ask the girls to do the show it is about friendship and good times not about pedi or shoes to the lady that said they made you sick i hope you threw up on yourself and since you said you are wealthy i hope you able to replace your outfit you where wearing at the time by the way what have you done for charity hmmmmmmmmmm
ReplyDeletehahahaha i love that last one!
ReplyDeleteI am glad that many of you enjoyed my Housewives Story. : ) It was never intended to offend anyone.
ReplyDeleteJust cant seem to let this go... There is nothing wrong with being rich! I myself have money, but I would never exploit it......
ReplyDeleteWHAT DO THESE WOMEN CONTRIBUTE TO ABILENE.... nothing, but increased liquor, and shoe sales. Seems as though they only give to themselves and that is fine, just dont try to act like you are so giving when you are not.. I am sure they have never seen a struggeling mom in the store going thru coupons to try and buy food for her kids and said "hey let me pay for that" or seen an elderly person trying to pay for needed medications and just stepped up and paid for them... that is what having money is all about!!!!
AND WHO IS THE DESIGNATED DRIVER AT THESE LUNCHES WHERE THEY HAVE ALL THEIR WINE!
Are they above the law? It is ovbious by the video and from knowing who they are that one glass is not the limit!
They are nice women.. I will give them that, but lets get real... they are spoiled, self serving, drunks, shallow and have no idea how stupid they made themselves look... Be different if they EARNED the money,,, they just mooch off the husbands... and stop drinking and driving, everyone cant afford to survive the damage you could do to a family.
You do not know these women!!!!They never said they lots of money...The story was about their friendship. Usually if someone has money they do not brag about it, well in this case you do! Yes one of them did say they had 125 pairs of shoes but who knows, they could of been saving them since high school. Yes one did say they like to get pedis and manis to make them feel good, but who doesn't. Who knows they might get a pedi every 2 months, we do not know when they get their nails and toes done. One more thing are you even married?...are you jealous because their men likes to support them, or are you having to make the money for your household and you are pissed off about it?... These women might have one drink at lunch but you also see alot of people doing that. Stop picking on them and get over it....It has been 4 days since they viewed this story.
ReplyDeleteHey Donna, this is your little sister Karla. I am happy for you and your friends. I hope this will become a hit series..... I'm with you all the way. I love you very much and miss you tremendously!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I am just shocked that this keeps going on and on over and over. I have no idea if this is the same women that keeps writing the same negative comments. Because it seems to be a repeat over and over. I believe you just need to say your comment once and go on. Everyone will reads this and remembers without the same repeats. Let it go!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI do know one of these women and I do know that she worked until a few months ago and she still goes in on call when they need her. She does not spooch off her husband. She has made her own income. She even helps cut corners to help save in her home.(which I will not go into all that) yes she like to have pedi's but every month or so (I have no idea how often she does) But who does'nt.
Everyone is diffent on what makes them feel good. For example some will go to walmart and splurge. some buy videos. some will go get a haircut. Or even go to payless and by a pair of shoes because they have a special. lottery tickets. go to the movies. Go to games. Go to fast foods or out to eat. Apparently the retailers bring in the assets or they will not be able to stay open. There are many purchases we make that is not necessary. But this is a way for us to get away from the same every day old grine. And yes in return we could help others more. For example I just a couple of days ago. I handed a twenty out to a jobless man standing on a corner and I also pick up air conditioners and have them fixed and give them out to handicap and senior citizens.(I threw that in just in case you want to criticise me too)And yes I do know that the women that I mention that I know has contribute to Abilene.
But you see I am not weathly women. But I do know a good women and she does not deserve this. We live and spend by what our income is. Pay check to paycheck. Like most people do.It does not matter if we made 1200 a month, we would make it happen. If we made 6000 a month we would find ways. we have been dirt pore stretching our food and in the past and now we live comfortable and happy. Not rich. But I do love to have pedi's which I do because I deserve them. and i do go shopping. I don't spend foolishly. Hello i am an average women that lives in a average life style. I did not see them explorting their wealth, homes or cars or jeweries so where is the wealth word coming in at. Oh yes they went into one of the girls closet. Not the other two though. So when you comment on one then you are damaging the other two also. If feel like this is a personal issue among one of those girls with you. If you noticed they did not wear have elligant clothes on (exploiding wealth) They had average everyday clothes that they were wearing. So if they was wanting to exploid their wealth I believe they would have done a better job at that if that was the case. I do believe I feel sorry for these girls. I don't think they deserve this. You are not only commenting to the public you are also commenting to the girls too. Because you know that they are reading these comments and this is your way by anonymous. So that tells me that you are really mean cruel hartless person. Especially by looking for every little flaws that you can find. Even when they go for lunch. YOU JUST HAVE TO COME BACK ON THAT TOO What is you problem??!!! And no this is not one of them writing. I am a true observer that lives in the normal average life. And yes I don't have that much of a life besides my family so I do spend time on the computer. What is your excuse? I have noticed twice in your letters that you have mentioned you have wealth. Please share with us on your community activities. Us poor folks would love to know out of curiousity.
I know one of these gals. Gold digger comes to mind I do not think Donna represents the typical housewife of Taylor county. Who said she was wealthy? These girls just married up for the money. That is a very old game. Give them a series so we can enjoy the comedy. Times are hard, they might need the money.
ReplyDeleteIf you know one of these gals, then you know Donna is not a gold digger!!!! She's the best housewife in Taylor County and that's because she is my mother! She has always worked hard and she always worked full time while I was growing up making wonderful money and allowing her to put me through college, along with taking care of my two sisters. A few years ago she lost my step dad to cancer who she loved very much so she is a widow not a GOLD DIGGER! The reason she quit her amazing paying job is because he wanted her home. Now she is married to someone that is well off but not Gold digger worthy! If you know mom then you should know this about her. If you have nothing nice to say then don't say it at all. I grew up in Abilene and know how people are, if they're jealous they'll talk smack about others, no matter what the age of a woman from Taylor county is and it's pretty sad, I love everything about Abilene except this little flaw. Glad I live in Austin now and do not have to worry about the mean trash talking people in Abilene. Just take the footage with a grain of salt. This wasn't KRBC coming out and saying look at our high class women and what they do in our community and then go show 125 pairs of shoes...... this was KRBC stating lets see if we have any women that are SIMILAR to the ones on Bravo, which these women are b/c they love to shop and hang out, but they are deeper then that because they love each other! I've seen my mom go through heart aches and I can name 3 women that have been by her side for the past 8 years! Nancy, Tonya, and Darla.
ReplyDeleteThrough the good times and bad is what friendship is all about and that is what these three women represent. GOOD FRIENDSHIP!!!
You know if this clip was supposed to be about friendship they should have focused more on their friendship and less on the fact that these women are spoiled brats. The clip cracked me up and yes made me feel sorry for them....because they made themselves look like a$$e$. Funny stuff!
ReplyDeleteYes, gold digger...what a good way to sum them up! Good one!
ReplyDeleteDonna a widow for just a few years? Doesn't take long for you to move one when money is flashed in front of you.
ReplyDeleteYou tell them Kristina! I use to work at The Outback and these ladies were not only sweet but great tippers. She said this was about comparing Taylor County women to those on Bravo not that it was about friendship, but that the difference between Bravo and ours is their friendship. You ladies are awful!
ReplyDeleteWHO CARES IF THIS HURTS their feelings and makes them feel bad...just go get sloshed, get a mani & pedi and you'll feel better. Did they think how bad this clip was going to make the average housewife feel? Nope. And one person had a point. People who have money don't talk about their money. It's just not polite. These women went on the news and had to show off. You wonder why people are so angry??
ReplyDeleteWho cares what the wealthy ladies on here that have commented on these selfish ladies. Who care what they have done for the community. The story wasn't about them. It was about Donna, Darla and the other lady. They could have made it a point after they talked about their "friendship", mani & pedi's they get WEEKLY (that's what they said in the clip.), drinking, dinning and then they could have talked about how they give back to our community. They didn't. They were too focused on themselves. And you are wondering why people get on here with their negative comments. Does money leave people dumb and ignorant?
If KRBC wanted to show the difference between these women and the ones that do have a series, they could have spent more time on their friendship and taken an extra step by asking these women what they do for our community and how good that makes them feels. Not just focusing on how good their manicure makes them feel. If that was what the clip aired I really don't think people would be this outraged.
Ladies, don't let these other jealous negative women bother you. Let them talk crap about stuff they have no idea about because they obviously do not know you. Laugh it off and know you have the upper hand because you do not have to put others down to make yourself feel better.
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for anyone that has to write something negative and then keep their name anonymous, how shallow is that!
only in abilene.
ReplyDeleteI focused on the positive side of the clip.I saw people dancing or learning to dance, and it was fascinating.I'm sure that there are lots of people out there, including those that posted comments who would like to learn to dance. Why not get together and have some dance classes? I'm sure that Brittany would be excited to direct us to a competent instructor.Rumba anyone?
ReplyDeleteWell I Never!!!! Thanks to those of you that are above judging these three friends.
ReplyDeleteTo those of you who have judged them by a 5 minute segment on TV, and the station for running it, you should be ashamed. Does all the news have to be doom and gloom? I hope you don't call yourselves Christians because if you do you're a hypocrite. It sounds like you are the ones with your noses in the air thinking you’re better than others. What gives you the right to judge anyone? That’s the job of our Lord and Savior.
I’m a 54 year old woman with 10 grandkids. I stand on my feet 9 hours a day behind a barber chair, I don’t have much money, but I do treat myself to a mani and pedi every month. So what? I don’t begrudge these ladies for something they have that I don’t. MORE POWER TO YOU LADIES! You’ve probably heard the old adage
I wish I was in your shoes’? Well I wish I was in all 125 pairs of shoes like theirs.
Speaking of which, I went through my 85 year old mother’s closet, she lives on a fixed income, and needed to have a garage sale, and guess how many pairs of shoes she had? 112! So do you think these shoes were bought in the last month? It takes years to get that many shoes. Go to your own closet and do a shoe count, you’ll be surprised!
BTW who says a glass of wine at lunch makes you a drunk that needs a designated driver? Jesus made water into wine and partook in the nectar. Get off your high horse and let these young ladies and their husbands have fun and live life and love each other. All women that marry men with money are not gold diggers. Imagine that, wealthy folks can be in love. This money wasn’t just handed to these people they work for it in one way or the other and it’s nobody else’ business what they do with it or how they spend it. Funny how you assume that they don’t give to the community when you really have no idea what you’re talking about.
You judgmental folks need to remember, what goes around comes around and I hope your jealous hearts and comments don’t turnaround and bite you in the butt some day. You may sign anonymous, but the Lord knows who you are and His judgment will someday be on you.
I’ve ranted enough.

I love it!!! Amazing Comment Sharon!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm stunned at the negative responses to the clip.Is it against the law to have fun and talk big? After all, it's TV!The show must go on!Does everyone have to be a "goodytwoshoes"?A lot of you live boring lives and that's no one's fault but yours.I guess you like to hear yourselves speak about all the wonderful things that you've done for the community.Bravo! I pat you all on the back and say well done!Happy? Great! Now go out and have some fun.Go dancing!Let people see the lighter side of you.Jesus had fun and drank too!Did he complain when the wine ran out at the wedding feast? By no means! He said, bring me water, and he turned it into wine.If he is okay with entertaining and alcohol, who are we to scold others?Unto thy selves, be true.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was absolutely funny. I just needed to say it for the record. I am a single mom and my daughter has probably 30 pairs of shoes. It is not because I have money it is because I spend 2.50 on her sandals and you get them at a great price. I have more shoes than I can imagine but I also have had shoes for years and I take care of them so I can wear them again.
ReplyDeleteI think it is real funny that these are hards times and you take time out of your day to try to put these woman down.. I say YOU GO GIRLS

I myself cannot believe the content of some of these comments. I find it amazing that someone can make comments about three women that they do not know and make that judgement off of about 4 minutes of airtime. I have known these women for many years, one for over 20. I can tell you that there is not a selfish bone or negative attitude in any of these women. I can honestly say that if I called one of these women and said "I didn't them" they would not ask for what they would just be there. Through the years we have all been there for eachother thru marriages, divorces, children issues and so much more and they have never been anything but supportive and three of the best friends a girl could ever ask for. I wish that those of you who posted negative, personal and ugly comments would take a step back and ask what you are really upset about. I promise each of you that you would each be blessed to have these three women be a part of your life. Friendship is always a hard thing to describe but when you have a "true" friend- you know it and know how precious that is.
ReplyDeleteThis may be too little too late but I had no idea that this story had stirred up such controversy. I have been friends with Donna for over 10 years and Tonya and Darla for over 4 years. They are the best friends anyone can have and I am blessed to have them in my lives. They are generous with their hearts, time and privilege. It is unfortunate that of all of the footage they shot, that krbc chose to air what some may think shed an unflattering light on them. Frankly, I thought it was very entertaining and if you knew these 3 ladies, you would want to be their friends. They are all wonderful mothers, wives, and friends who live life to the fullest. They inspire others to do the same. So those of you who didn't get it...get over it!
ReplyDeleteI am now as big a loser as the rest of you for reading this crap. This is why I moved to Dallas. BTW, alot is really 2 words..a lot..A lot of you like to throw around alot a lot. My Wylie edjamakashun tot me that.
ReplyDelete"a lot" actually means a plot of land not a measurement, if we are going to get really technical. thanks anyways for your wylie education, i see it is paying dividends.
ReplyDeleteI've heard way to many negative comments to just sit back in my computer chair and not stick up for these beautiful, witty, smart, caring, giving, motherly, strong, god-fearing women. Growing up I thought of Tonya as being like my second mother, she was great. I know because I spent every weekend staying at her house from the age of 5-18. Part of the way I am today as an adult is because of her and the way she carries herself with class, wit, and confidence. Darla is great aswell, what class! and so nice too. I don't know Donna too well but have met her a time or two and can say that she has a good head on her shoulders and is also very strong. For everyone who has left negative comments, that really is not necessary. I am almost 20 years old and I would NEVER leave such hateful comments.( especially to women I have never met). I think that alot of these bad comments are from past friends..not naming any names but you know who you are. Get over your failed adulthood and don't put down successful women just because you are jealous that you couldn't have been chosen to be a part of this story. I think I know what you all want!!! "The Real White Trash of Taylor County"..I can see it now!! were going primetime baby!! that way yall wouldn't feel left out!! and to Tonya, Darla, and Donna..you have your families, your kids, and your friends..I know thats all that matters to me..the other rubish people dont even matter!! love yall
